Event Details

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxPeachtree, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxPeachtree event, TEDTalks videos and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Last May,  TEDxPeachtree was started with a call to action on LinkedIn:   “Volunteer! Spread great ideas!”

Indeed, volunteers came and on December 4, 2009 with the theme “What if…?”, Atlanta will experience amazing speakers, powerful connections, and unforgettable moments!

In the spirit of “ideas worth spreading,” TEDx is a new extension initiative of the TED organization.

The first TEDxPeachtree conference will follow the TED form and spirit. Attendance to the conference is by application only.

Bringing together the world’s leading thinkers and doers, TED events have been called “The ultimate brain spa,” “Davos for optimists” and “A journey into the future, in the company of those creating it.”

Speakers at TED events–some of the world’s most fascinating, innovative and influential individuals–are challenged to give “the talk of their life” in 18 minutes or less. Attendees are as exceptional as the speakers. Sharing happens from the stage or in the lounge. The ensuing conversations are also life changing.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design:  three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. The first TED was held in Monterey, California, in 1984. Chris Anderson’s Sapling Foundation acquired TED in 2001 from its founder, Richard Saul Wurman. In recent years, TED has expanded to include an international conference, TEDGlobal; media initiatives, including TED Talks and TED.com; and the TED Prize. TED2010, “What the world Needs Now,” will be held Feb 9-13, 2010, in Long Beach, California, with a simulcast event in Palm Springs, California.

Tickets are non-transferable and issued upon approval of your application.
